IN3: BCN-UOC Chair project Research Assistant


The selected person will be incorporated as a Research Assistant in the project "Barcelona UOC Chair in Digital Economics: for a collaborative economy focused on the well-being of people and the right to the city" of the DIMMONS research group at the IN3 of the University.

The DIMMONS research group is part of the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. Her lines of research-action are focused on the field of socio-economic and gender innovation and in connection with the digital revolution and from a feminist and pro-common perspective. DIMMONS leads and participates in competitive projects in the field at the local, national and international levels, while providing a work environment that promotes the personal and professional growth of the people who are part of it, informing and encouraging socioeconomic change and transformation. .

The mission of this project is to promote strategic actions, connections, work dynamics and instruments, to encourage public policies and the ecosystem of cities, to meet the challenges of the platform economy and take advantage of the their opportunities, for their development and democratization from action research. Also, co-creation of public policies, business promotion, and training. This Chair is attached to the Management of the Department of Economics, Resources and Economic Promotion (Directorate of Cooperative, Social and Solidarity Economy Services and Food Policy), with the active participation of the Management of Urbanism, Barcelona Activa (Operational Directorate of Socioeconomic Innovation) and the Municipal Management (Directorate of Gender Transversality), among others

Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator of the project, the following tasks will have to be carried out:
- Take responsibility for the "city union" strategy: Support and support for the policies of the Urban Ecology Area of Barcelona City Council.
- Monitoring of the tourism network at European level, as well as the actions of cities regarding the position of the Committee of the Regions, the European Commission and/or the European Parliament, the municipalities of Amsterdam, Vienna, etc.
- Follow-up to the next Sharing Cities Summit and organization of meetings between cities.
- Represent Barcelona at international city meetings
- Maintain exchanges and possible collaborations with Inside Airbnb or other expert actors.
- Promote and support alternative models of interest to the city.
- Propose open research and resources with a focus on Barcelona based on strategic lines of Barcelona City Council.
- Systematize information and generate resources that contribute to European lobbying actions and joint negotiation with platforms.
- Carry out international benchmarking.
- Facilitate dissemination and communication actions through research and actions carried out.

A contract will be made for 9 months at 15 hours/week, with the expected incorporation on April 1, 2022.
The reference job will be the UOC headquarters in Poblenou, Barcelona (District 22@), with an agreed telework.

What we are looking for:

- Degree in Social Sciences
- Professional knowledge of English, Catalan and Spanish
- Previous work experience in the tourism rental and tourism rental ecosystem, public policies in the field and collaboration between cities
- Analytical and executive ability to design actions between cities
- Knowledge of academic research and action research environments
- Proactive and collaborative and constructive attitude
- Autonomy, initiative, creativity and assertiveness
