Àrea de Recerca i Innovació (ARI): Post-award project manager

Research is a top priority for the UOC, and is at the heart of its activities. The University
fosters research, transfer and innovation. Research, innovation and knowledge transfer at the UOC are organized into 51 R&I groups linked to a faculty or to one of the University's three centres: the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3), the eHealth Center (eHC) and the eLearning Innovation Center (eLinC).

The research currently specializes in the fields of arts and humanities, social sciences, health sciences and technology and communication: identity, culture, art and society; technology and social action; globalization, legal pluralism and human rights; taxation, labour relations and social benefits; internet, digital technologies and new media; information and communications systems and services, and information and communications management. Two areas of the University's scientific activities are particularly important: the information and knowledge society and e-learning.

The successful candidate will join the UOC's Research and Innovation department as a post-award R&I project manager.

• Managing publicly and privately funded R&I projects.
• Monitoring projects' work plans, risk management, scientific reports, and contract management of funding and consortium agreements.
• Attending consortium meetings and providing support in organization and outreach activities.
• Acting as a liaison between researchers, other UOC departments and other units in the Research and Innovation Department, funding agencies, other members of the consortium and coordinators of collaborative projects.
• Planning and tracking expenditure and budgetary changes (management of R&I grant budgets, technical support in the planning of projects, feasibility studies and redrafting of budgets where necessary, support with amendments, adjustments and responses to requirements, support producing financial reports and conducting internal audits).
• Requesting and monitoring employment and/or commercial contracts.
• Recording and updating projects using internal and external project management tools and monitoring of timesheets.
• Document registration, maintenance and closing.
• Scheduling and monitoring of audits and submissions of scientific and technical and financial reports.
• Ensuring compliance with institutional policies and the rules and policies of funding bodies.
• Contributing to the running of the R&I Unit and to continual improvement in project management.

The successful candidate will be awarded an open-ended, full-time contract, and should be available to start work immediately.

The workplace will be in Barcelona. The UOC is a remote-first institution, so the default option is to work from home, with occasional on-site work taking place as needed.

What we are looking for:

• University education.
• Proven experience in the management and coordination of research proposals and projects.
• Knowledge of regional, national, European and international R&I funding programmes.
• Advanced office application skills.
• English language skills to at least CEFR level B2, or First Certificate equivalent.
• Oral and written communication skills in both Spanish and Catalan.
• Organizational and time management skills (handling concurrent projects and ensuring deadlines are met).
• A high level of initiative.
• Ability to work as part of a team and personal relationship skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

We also value:

  • Specific training in the field of research and innovation management.
  • Knowledge of the UOC's educational model.
